Lindsay Price

Lindsay Price Stone is an American actress, singer, and activist. She is married to Michelin-star chef Curtis Stone, and the couple live in Los Angeles with their two sons.

How does the Cleobella Brand align with your values and style?

I have had the fairly unusual experience of starting my acting career as a child. Growing up, in those early years it was just like playing make believe and I loved it. I had so much inherent joy and it was kind of busting out. I didn’t set out to be an actor, but I think I was born to be one. And entering the business with the naivety of a child, I didn’t know that I should see any type of color or ethnicity as an obstacle to my career. When I turned 14, I was cast to play an immigrant on a national soap opera. All of a sudden I wasn’t just one of the girls cast to be in a party scene or as a Girl Scout or in a classroom. I had my own narrative storyline and it very much had to do with the way that I looked. Even though I was a half Asian girl from Southern California, the way I looked cast me in a roll of a girl who was very different to who I am. I loved it, however I remember they wouldn’t put my face on the cover of the main Soap Opera magazines, even though I had an A storyline and they very rarely put faces of color on the cover of these magazines, even in the mid 90s. So at the time in every young girl’s life where she is naturally becoming aware of her aesthetic and wonders how the world sees her for the first time, I started to understand that the way I looked and my ethnic origin was going to shape my career with a cap to what people thought would sell a story or show. I didn’t like those obstacles. From that moment on, I worked 10 times as hard of any of my contemporaries to be the best actor, the most well read, the most professional, and the most prepared of any of my peers no matter what color of their skin. That focus and determination set me on an upward trajectory where I never stopped working, and I very nearly always booked the job that I wanted. I developed an incredible ability to see the humor and everything. I studied people and always stayed extremely curious, contemplated all my relationships. It gave me the type of depth, self reflection and perspective that was needed to be a successful working actor all these years. Pretty much nothing can stop my drive.

How do you balance being a mom, wife, actor, philanthropist and business woman?

The fact that Cleobella is globally inspired is completely in sync with how I view fashion. I draw so much inspiration from the places I travel and romanticize my life, even when I’m not traveling. I love the simplicity and femininity in the ethos of the brand as well. It’s very aligned with my personal style perspective.

What’s been the most rewarding project or initiative you’ve worked on?

I make lots of lists. I’m definitely the type of woman who needs to feel like there’s a plan. And there are only so many hours in a day. I care so much about all the aspects of my life that sometimes I can get a little frozen as to what to do first, so every morning I wake up and make a list of what needs to get done and just Tick off the boxes. When it comes to prioritizing my life, being a mom and a wife comes first. It has become very clear to me that at the end of the day the reason we are here is what we give what we can leave behind and the relationships in our lives . The relationship with my family, and my friends will always not only be prioritized, but give me inspiration into all other aspects of my life. I became much more interesting and three-dimensional person and actor once I became a mother. Everything came into focus. A lot of women say that when they became mothers, they clicked into being a full woman. I don’t think that it necessarily has to do with whether or not a woman is a mother. I think it has to do with being driven by the kind of love that takes you outside of yourself. I think anyone can feel this once they find a love that gives them a particular type of grounding purpose . I draw on my relationships with my family and friends for inspiration and motivation in every creative thing I do. So somehow, when everything feels so busy and overwhelming I find stillness and focus. Because my purpose is very clear. The fact that it’s all cohesive and inspired by love. I also have to be forgiving of myself when one aspect of my life takes a backseat to another. Balance isn’t necessarily about making all of the things in your life equal in your time and efforts. It’s about being OK with one aspect of your life, taking the front seat and the others falling away here and there Balance is about the long-term and seeing the big picture.

How do you stay grounded in a constantly changing world?

It would be extremely hard to choose a role or a show that is the most rewarding because every character I’ve played is different. Every single cast, crew and writer that makes up a particular show has become a friend or a wonderful part of a long career. Obviously being the lead on Lipstick Jungle was a dream and I often times think back and feel feel like I hit my 14-year-old Lindsay‘s dream role playing a fashion designer in New York City on the lead of a romcom with Andrew McCarthy. And the work I’ve done with organizations like AdoptTogether , Kidsave and Alliance of Moms has been incredibly meaningful to me.

What is one thing you would want to tell your younger self?

I had a really great upbringing. I had two incredible parents who helped make it very clear that life is all about the relationships we have in this short time here. I so appreciate the time they spent making their children feel like we had a great foundation to step out into the world. No matter what I can sort of always find my north. I model my own little family after them and what they taught me. The world can seem huge and scary but it all changes. Everything is fleeting. Nothing is permanent. Even the dark times. The only thing that I really know for sure is that I’ve been loved and how to give love so I stay focused on that. The rest is gravy. I meditate, my mantra is remember who you are. A sense of humor goes really long way.
